The Hobbit Dispute

OMG! if you haven't heard about this, you need to! click on the title to go to the news article.

So, basically it turns out that New Line Cinema, who made the Lord of the Rings trilogy with Peter Jackson, had been "holding back" a percentage of the profits that were promised to PJ. Obviously, since they were rightfully his, and New Line refused to give it to him, he had to sue them. Apparently the legal battle over the money has yet to be resolved, and during the course of all of this, New Line told PJ that they would 'no long be requiring his services' for the making of the Hobbit as well as a second prequel that he was supposed to make. this REALLY ticked everybody off, including me. naturally, it was assumed that PJ would make the Hobbit eventually, no questions about it. now New Line is trying to kick him off of it?! are they INSANE?!!! i mean, he only made them nearly 3 BILLION DOLLARS!!!! but heck, they don't want to give him a small percent of that? not like it would hurt their budget any! seriously! not to mention the chance they would have had to make boatloads of more money on the other two movies! i'm sorry, but it just wouldn't be the same without PJ! i mean, he IS Lord of the Rings! gaaaahhhhh!!!

*ahem* luckily, New Line's rights for the two movies runs out next year (ha-ha!) and the rights instead fall to Mr. Saul Zaentz who owns Tolkien Enterprises. He has assured everyone that PJ WILL be making the Hobbit, just not with New Line. >:O SERVES THEM RIGHT! they had a chance for another great seller, but they blew it cuz they got greedy. well, thank God for Mr. Zaentz who will hopefully appreciate PJ better than New Line did. i can't wait for the movie, especially now that PJ's making it for sure. good luck, PJ! i know it will be awesome of course, because he's brilliant. so i just wanted to make sure everyone knew how stupid New Line Cinema is, but everything's ok cuz PJ is still making the Hobbit and a second prequel! how freakin' awesome is that?!! boo-yeah!

if you're interested, here's some more links to check out:

This explains about Mr. Zaentz and that PJ IS making the Hobbit:

Here's a cartoon which basically expresses my feelings on the matter when i first found out PJ had been given the boot in a very loquacious and reasonable way: ;)

what a weekend!

so i just realized that this semester is nearly over! yipee!! i'll be SOOOO excited to be rid of Psychology FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D mwahahahaha! the rest of my classes i don't mind, especially music obviously. ;)

this weekend was rather eventful to say the least. i've had better weekends. let's see: on Friday i went to orchestra rehearsal.........and locked my keys in the car. then i hadda wait for my mom to get there to unlock the car. Saturday i babysat my cousins................and burnt my thumb on their oven trying to make pizza O:-) Sunday i was driving to church..................and my car got a flat tire so we sat in Alvarado for 1 1/2 hours waiting for my grandfather to get there and then fix it. we were late to church to say the least. haha. :)

well, last Thursday was the band concert. it actually went very well, considering the rather bad rehearsals previous to it. ;) but we managed to pull it off as usual. i conducted one of the songs too! it was sooooo much funn. i actually liked it a lot. oh! oh! annnnnnnnd the last song for the concert band was "Amazing Grace," and we had a guest bagpiper who played with us! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! it was totally awesome. i got to talk to him a little bit Wednesday during rehearsal, and found out that it's Highland pipes that he plays, and he even took it apart and showed some of us like the reeds and stuff and learned all sorts of cool stuff.

ok, guess that's it. oh! don't forget to buy Josh Groban's new cd! came out last Tuesday! it's realllllly good. of course. ;) and for a few extra dollars you can get the ***SPECIAL EDITION*** cd with bonus dvd of the making of the cd. plus the cd has 2 extra tracks on it that aren't on the regular one. so don't forget! ***SPECIAL EDITION***..........ok, enough about that. so long and thanks for all the fish! (if you haven't seen "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", that just went completely over your head. sorry! your fault for not watching it. it's awesome). :D

Texas State Fair

Well......yesterday the Hill College Jazz Band, Chorale, and Vocal Ensemble performed at the State Fair. it was pretty fun. Tiffany ended up singing the National Anthem, which was probably good since we kinda sucked at it as a group....lol. she was really good though. A good thing was that Ms. Erickson put most of the piano accompaniment on a floppy disk which played in the electric keyboard, so i just hadda pretend like i was playing except for 1 song.....hehehe. hey! even SHE said they were hard!!! gimme a break! ahem...anyways, after the concert i stayed at the fair with some of my friends and we rode the rides and ate turkey legs and plenty of fried stuff....lol after all, the State Fair is known for frying practically EVERTHING. lol i ate my traditional: fried oreos. mmmmm the best. i look forward to the fair every year just for the fried oreos. lol i wanted to try the fried snickers and the new one: fried coke (believe it or not. the saying "you can fry anything" is apparently true. lol) but i didn't have enough money, and i didn't wanna make myself sick. :P so we rode tons of fun rides. ok, not tons cuz ticket are really expensive, although the food was more expensive than the rides! which doesn't make any sense at ALL to me, but oh well. most of the rides were only 5 tickets, but a turkey leg cost 14!!!! sheesh! that's almost 10$ just for a stupid turkey leg!!! i should've gone for the corn dog...lol. oh, but i finally found someone who is more chicken than me: Gabe!!!! lol i was like wow, cuz he doesn't seem like the kind of guy to be really scared of roller coasters ya know? and yet i rode more than he did! hehe.

anyways, all our music classes were canceled today so i only had English Lit. mwahahahaha!!!!! of course, i could've slept MUCH longer if i hadn't forgotten that we didn't have classes and got up at 6:30 anyways....lol. man, and Enya's new Christmas cd was released at Target yesterday, and I couldn't even get it!!! *sniff sniff*. did i already mention that? lol i don't remember. oh well, if i have forgive me. i'm just a little upset.

well, i'm gonna try and be a little more consistent with my posts, just to let ya know. mainly Katherine, Emily, and Jonathan since y'all are the only ones that really read it anyways.....lol. *sigh* ttyl,

My Ramblings About Nothing Really Important

Sooooooo, i have nothing really to write about, since my life right now is basically: school....practice instruments....school....pratice instruments....lol

so, last tuesday was the release date for Celtic Woman's Christmas Celebrations cd. and i was soooooooo excited about it that i WALKED all the way to wal-mart from my dorm just to get it. i arrive at wal-mart slightly hot and sweaty, walk back to the electronic section, AND.....................................................they don't have it. i was SO mad at wal-mart. but i did get a frapuccino from Starbucks on the way back to campus. i tried their new Maple Frapuccino. it was REALLY good....tasted like syrup. :D of course, it's not as good as their Pumpkin Spice, which is still my all-time favorite.

Anyways, i'm also teaching the freshmen music majors tonight. :D it should be fun. it makes me feel smart. lol but most of them are having trouble understanding most of the concepts, so i agreed to help them tonight with whatever they need. oh, also, i went to the apartments Sunday evening where a bunch of them stay to watch the football game with them. i don't really get into football, but they're entertaining enough just by themselves, that i had a pretty good time. lol grant it, some of them are kinda crazy sometimes, but oh well.

hmmmmmmm, what else......oh, yeah! so last night my roommate and i were talking, and she asks me: "is your hair naturally curly?" and i said: "yeah...." and she was like: "have u ever straightened it before?" and i was like: "no, not really......" lol so she asks me if she can straighten it, just to see what it would look like straight. so i let her. i looked sooooooo weird! i guess cuz i'm not used to seeing myself with straight, non-frizzy hair. lol ;) but it was pretty cool. it was SUPER LONG. it was awesome. but i think i'll keep my curly hair.

so besides that, that's basically all that's going on worth telling right now...so later gaters!!!

My 9/11 Dedication

I know I'm a day late, but i just found these videos on the internet. it's videos someone put together using Enya's songs "Only Time" and "Fallen Embers" in the background. it's very beautifully done, and I would like to dedicate it to the victims and their families here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uOj4G2vQas and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-s23KTwvGo
my prayers are with them.

My Eventful First Week of School

Sooooooo.....this is my first week of school, and already a lot has happened. first, i managed to loose my roommate on the SECOND DAY of school. how sad is that? that's gotta be a record or something. what happened, was that they put me w/ a basketball person.....don't ask me why. music....and basketball?! so anyways, a new basketball girl showed up, so the lady in charge of our dorms as me if i would room w/ someone else so they could room together, and i said it was fine. i don't think she liked me very much anyways. my new roommate is much nicer, except that she does cuss quite a lot, but then again, everyone at college it does. :-/ so, last night Coach B (that's the lady in charge) made the basketball team carry all my belongings upstairs to my new room. hehehe. i'm just glad i didn't hafta carry the fridge. :-P

Anyways, the other thing that i think is TOTALLY FREAKIN' AWESOME is that the band is learning a version of Amazing Grace, and it has a BAGPIPE SOLO at the end! how SWEEEEEEEEEEET is that! i loooooooove bagpipes. obviously; i love Ireland. :D so Mr. Lowe, our director, said he's gonna look for a bagpiper. i hope the guy wears a kilt at the concert too. hehehe :-P so anyways, it my favorite song.

Thirdly, this afternoon was the meeting for Sigma Phi Omega, the music club. and i was voted for Secretary/Treasurer! purty nifty, huh? i basically handle the money (mwahahahahaha....just kidding) and take notes at all our meetings. it's pretty fun; i like it anyways.

Hmmmm....seems like there was something else...oh, yeah! my family and i are driving to Colorado tomorrow after i get out of class! yipee!!!! goin' to see Granny!!! :D i loooooooove road trips. so i'm very excited.

well, i guess that's pretty muchly it. oh , except that i met a girl at Unity, the official Enya forum, that lives inHouston! that's like....4 hours aways from where i live! we thought that was cool. anyways, that's it for now. sorry, i'm in a bit of a rush cuz i have a lot of homework (for our dictation paper, we had to borrow one of our teacher's cd's and write the notes that the person is singing....i chose her Sarah Brightman cd. hehehe). well, ttfn ta ta for now....

Quiz Time (Just for you, Katherine)

1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4 and write what it says.- ummmm....October 11 (Wednesday). lol the only book in here is my dayplanner. sorry. :-/

2. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What can you touch?- my purse.

3. What is the last thing you watched on TV?- hmmmmm, let me think...i THINK Star-Trek, but i can't remember cuz i don't have a tv at the dorm, so it's been a few days since i watched tv.

4. Without looking, guess what time it is.- 5:20

5. Now look at the clock. What is the actual time?- OMG!!! I got the EXACT time! how scary is that? i'm psychic!!! hehehe. it really is 5:20 right now! :D

6. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?-ppl typing AND talking very loud despite the fact that it's a LIBRARY!!! sheesh.

7. When did you last step outside? What were you doing?- about and hour and a half again when i was walking from my dorm to the library.

8. Before you started this survey, what did you look at?- Katherine's blog! that's why i'm doing this stupid quiz now. ;)

. What are you wearing?- my cool blue jeans with the sparkly design on it (hard to explain). and my "Looking for a Pot of Gold?" shirt i got for St. Patty's Day (it says "Get a Job!" on the back. hehehe).

10. Did you dream last night?- Yeah, you always dream, you just may not always remember it.

11. When did you last laugh?- a few minutes ago when i read Katherine's statement about the "US Gas" and the guy in the turban sitting out side. :D hahaha! now i'm laughing again!!!

12. What is on the walls of the room you are in?-let's see: a pic of mountains, a US flag, a clock, a thermostat, and lots of papers about how to print your paper, and announcing that the comp. lab will shut down "15 minutes before closing time" and stuff like that.

13. Seen anything weird lately?- Yeah. at the Enya online forum, there's a subject about Mr. Moe the Chipmunk (a pet of the other members who is just as famous on the forum as Enya herself. lol). at this post, all the members make interesting pics of Mr. Moe doing weird stuff. one of my faves is a pic of a family of squirrels (distant relatives of his) who are Jedi Knights! it was sooooooo funny.

14. What do you think of this quiz?- it's pretty cool....better than most quizes you get all time in emails anyways.

15. What is the last film you saw?- I THINK it was Pirates of the Caribbean:Dead Man's Chest (for the 4th time...lol)

16. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?- I guess a car and a new house. oh! and a summer home in Ireland, next to Enya's castle, Manderley. :D

17. Tell me something about you that I don't know.- ummmm....i hafta read Beolwulf in English Lit? lol i dunno!

18. If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?- i dunno.

19. Do you like to dance?- yes! well, define "dance" lol. if u mean the type of dancing that most ppl do nowadays which i classify as a "mating ritual" then no. but i like waltzing, and line dancing, and i would like to learn to do the Irish Riverdance.

20. Comment to George Bush:- Howdy! lol i can't think of anything else to say, ok?!

21. Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?- i haven't really decided baby names yet....lol but i'll say...............hmmmmmm.............Miriel! hehe. that's Elvish for "Sparkling Jewel." i think it's pretty. either that or Luthien Tinuviel-an Elf-Maiden who was supposed to be the most beautiful woman in the whole world, and fell in love with Beren, and mortal man, and hence was doomed to die. very sad, beautiful story. i can't remember what Luthien means, but Tinuviel means Nightingale, and it's the name that Beren gave to her.

22. Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?- hmmmmmmm either Beren (hehe), or Aragorn, or Frodo, or Samwise......hehehe. i don't know as many boy names. I do also like the name Dominic, William, Timothy, and Elijah.

23. Would you ever consider living abroad?- I wouldn't MIND if i lived in Ireland. :-D but i also like where i am now.

24. What do you want God to say to you when you reach the pearly gate?- like Katherine said: "Well done, good and faithful servant..."

25. 3 people that must do this quiz on THEIR blog:1. Jonathan 2. somebody 3. somebody else. lol Jonathan is the only other person besides Katherine whose blog i read (besides Steve Camp, but i hardly can see this on his blog. lol) ok, now that i'm LATE FOR SUPPER. ......thanks, KATHERINE!!!! I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY !!!!!!!!

Stephanie
p.s~i'm just givin' you a hard time Katherine.....;)

Back 2 School

Well, summer's almost out, and it back to school we go--and there was much rejoicing: yay.
lol anyways, i finished my summer course in speech a couple weeks ago, and i'm pleased to announce that i got my grades back FINALLY, and i made and 'A' in the class. of course, his class is a pretty easy 'A' anyways...if u show up and give your speeches, u basically got it. plus, we were supposed to do 3 speeches, 3 quizes, and a final test...and we did 2 speeches, 1 quiz, and the final...and the quiz and the final were exactly the same except for 5 extra questions at the end of the final. that's because all he did for the first 2 weeks was TALK and TALK about completely random things that had nothing to do w/ speech whatsoever. not that i minded, or anything, of course...lol ;) then, it took us 1 1/2 weeks to get thru all 12 of the 1st speeches, because he talks after each speech for like 1/2 an hour. lol so, i went in completely mortified, but came out fairly content. it wasn't near as bad as i had imagined. so, if you go to Hill College here in Texas, get Prof. J.P. Kyle (sp?) for public speaking. :D

so, i also finally got my room assignment a few days ago, and i'm only 2 doors down from my previous room. it's kinda sad...i had grown sort of attached to my room. but oh well, at least my new room is still on the back, which i really like. it's not inside like the rest of the dorms. I should be signing up for my classes pretty soon...i still need to go get a time card. and in the meantime i'm reorganizing my belongings. because being stored in baskets all summer meant that if i needed something, i hadda go dig it out. consequentially, the room the baskets were stored in is now a complete disaster, so i've been working on putting everything back in their baskets, etc. plus, for my birthday and Christmas of last year i got about 50 different body washes, soap, body spray, and lotion to go with me to my dorm....so i'm taking one of everything and leaving the rest here for my family to use. cuz since it's just me using the stuff, a whole bottle of body wash lasts me nearly a whole school year...lol.

Anyways, oh! i almost forgot: i found out that Celtic Woman is going to record a new performance in Ireland! i can't wait for the dvd. i hope it's the same performance i saw last month...that way my family can see it too! :D i'm also anxiously awaiting Enya's new single to hit the stores: Someone Said Goodbye. oh, speaking of Enya, 2 nights ago i watched King Arthur for the very first time. it wasn't all that great, but at the credits a lady started singing, and luckily we had the closed captions on, and it said "Moya Brennan." that's Enya's sister! *sqeals* i've always wanted to hear her. unfortunately, dad had the satelite programmed to record a football game that came on right after the movie...so it cut off 5 seconds into the song. i was ticked. but i'm better now.

well, i can't think of anything else right now, so TTFN, ta ta for now!! :D

Celtic Woman

ok, i've kinda busy, and i've been meaning to post for the last couple weeks about my celtic woman concert. sorry for the wait:

first, if you don't know who Celtic Woman is: it is a group of 5 Irish women who sing/play celtic music. they each had their own solo works already, and came together to form "Celtic Woman". There's: Lisa Kelley (who's about the only one with a "normal" name in American standards...lol). then there's Chloe Agnew, who started w/ this group at age 15. very pretty voice. her father, David Agnew, is also a well-known oboist. Probably my two favorites though are Meav ni Mhaolchatha who has a beautiful soprano voice. she can hit the high notes with such clarity, and seemingly no effort; and Orla Fallon, who has what i would call a "haunting" voice. i absolutely love all of her songs. Now my absolute favorite (for obvious reasons) is Mairead Nesbitt, the fiddlist. she is REALLY really good. i wish i could play Irish fiddle like that. maybe one day....lol. she's really very talented; she can dance all around the stage while playing at the same time. my violin teacher describes her in his Romanian accent as: "That blonde woman who swishes her hair all over the place..." lol

sooooo, July 25 was the the Celtic Woman concert at Nokia Theater, and it was AWESOME!!!!!! to put it simply. :-P i just loooooooved it! they played all the songs i hoped they would (mostly Siuil a Ruin [Orla], Si do Mhaimeo i [Meav], and the Butterfly [Mairead]) plus plenty of new ones i had never heard before. Their dresses were soooooooooooo pretty. My favorites were Lisa's (blue with a gold strip on the top and bottom) and Orla's (a really pretty green). I also really liked Meav's purply one too, though. Mairead was soooo cool! even more energetic than on the pbs show. really all of them were, actually. she had like her own dance routine for every song she played, and she would jump off this platform thing to the other part of the stage while playing, and she danced all over the stage. it was so much fun. you could tell she was really enjoying it too. for souvenirs i got their "souvenir programme" which talks about each of the performers and has a list of the songs they sang/played that night. i also bought a cool t-shirt (it's black and has their logo on it). i didn't buy any of their solo cd's cuz they're cheaper at wal-mart. yes, i know i'm cheap. so sue me! O:-) anyways, i didn't get home til nearly 1 am, and had to get up at 6:30 that morning for class, but it was DEFINITELY worth it. i am sooooo glad i got to go. thanks Uncle Ronnie for the tickets! :D

Here's the list of songs they performed:
~The Sky, The Dawn, The Sun *
~Caledonia (Lisa)*
~The Butterfly (Mairead-fiddle)
~Danny Boy (Meav)
~Someday (Chloe)
~Orinoco Flow (Enya's song! hehehe)
~Siuil A Run (Orla)
~Granuaile's Dance (Mairead)*
~The Blessing (Lisa)*
~Si Do Mhaimeo i (Meav)
~One World
~Vivaldi's Rain (Chloe)*
~Somewhere
~Mo Ghile Mear*
~Walking in the Air (Chloe)
~Harry's Game (Orla)
~She Moved Thru the Fair (Meav)
~Send Me a Song (Lisa)
~The Soft Goodbye
~Nella Fantasia (Chloe)
~At the Ceili*
~Ashoken Farewell/The Contradiction (Mairead)
~The Voice (Lisa)*
~Isle of Inisfree (Orla)
~Sing Out*
~You Raise Me Up
~Spanish Lady*

*-New Songs

Well, i guess that's a basic overview of the concert. i'll write again soon, but the concert already took up quite a bit of room....lol.

Summer

Well, I haven't been here for quite awhile, so...where to start? :-/ well, camp was last month and I had SOOOOOO much fun! It was good to see ya again Katherine! and it was nice to meet you too Emily! hope to see y'all again real soon. Anyways, the guest speaker this year was Steve Camp, who was totally awesome. He was really funny, and had plenty of stories to tell...lol. but I also have great respect for him now. Anyone who doesn't know, Steve Camp was a pretty popular Christian singer back in like the 80's I believe (Katherine or Emily can feel free to correct me if I get my info wrong...my memory's sometimes a little fuzzy). But basically he quit when all the Christian record companies sold out to secular record companies, and now he does stuff on his own, and only gives FREE concerts. He says that if you're a Christian artist, that your music is your ministry, and ppl shouldn't hafta pay to be ministered to. But anyways, as I said, I have a great respect for him because he is very bold for the Lord, and isn't afraid to do what's right, no matter what ppl think of him or do to him. I only wish I was so bold.
So, besides Steve Camp, we had also had a great time hanging out. We even sang opera on the steps in the sports cafe, which was hilarious, especially when we scared Chris away....lol. hmmmm...oh I also met James (a.k.a "Edmund", because he looks JUST like Edmund from Narnia....except he doesn't have the freckles). so I have decided that he is probably the strangest and funniest person I know. I thought I knew some strange people....I was wrong. But what can you say about ppl like James, who find pleasure in playing "Pikmin", and playing idiotic games on the internet, like stretching monkeys to insane lengths on branches to try to collect bananas? Plus, he can make some of the funniest facial expressions. It makes me laugh every time I just picture it. Or the way that Stephen always bossed him around. "don't talk, James!" lol Or when he was playing "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" Don't ask me why he liked playing it so much, but he did. it wouldn't be so funny, except that he wasn't exaclty.......perfect at it, if you get my drift, so it was more like this: "Can you-feel....the-love....to......night...." and so on. lol I can never hear that song again w/o picturing James playing it.
Well, in short, all of camp was tons of fun. Except for the last day, Friday. Some virus was going around and like 50 ppl ended up sick, which included throwing up and diarrhea. and 2 of the 50 were in our group, including my sister, Andrea. I felt so bad for her. Her first time to camp, and it ended w/ her puking in a trash bag in the van on the way home......lol. Katherine got sick too, actually, but luckily it was only once, and I think it was more brought on by nerves, because we were all so afraid of ending up sick too. lol I know felt like puking too. :-/
So besides camp, I have also started a summer class at Hill College in Cleburne---Speech. *Darth Vader Theme* If there's one thing I can't stand....it's speaking in front of groups of people. It is physically impossible for me. or so I though anyways. However, so far the speech class has been going fairly well. of course, we're two weeks into it and haven't done one speech yet, unless you include where we each had to stand up and introduce ourselves, but that wasn't that bad. so I've decided that Speech won't be as bad as I thought. Hey, if I can conquer this dreaded class, I can do just about ANYTHING. ;) Plus, to be honest, I would probably prefer speaking in a class like this where I know absolutely no one. that might sound strange, but it's a little easier actually because that way I know that I'll most likely never see these people again as long as I live, and I could care less what they think of me.
OH!!! before I go, I just HAVE to add one thing: I saw Pirates of the Caribbean 2 last weekend!!! mwahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!! it was really good, of course. I knew it would be. Jack Sparrow is AWESOME. Unfortunately, we went to see it Friday, the day it came out, but of course NO ONE would listen to me. I told them, "if we're gonna go see the 3:00 showing, we need to get there at LEAST and hour ahead of time, but preferably even soon than that, cuz this is a very popular movie, and it'll be sold out pretty quick if we don't hurry." but, of course, nobody heeded my wisdom, so we showed up 15-30 minutes b/4 it started, and lo and behold......it was sold out. I TOLD them so, which I pointed out btw to them as we drove back home. so we hadda wait til SATURDAY, because we had something else planned Friday night. But at least I got to see it. Plus, mom and dad haven't seen it, so I'll go see it again. hehehe.
Oh, one more thing: Enya has a NEW SINGLE coming to the USA! (finally). she's already had 2 I think, but neither came to the USA. one was in Europe and one in Japan. so, she has a new single: "Someone Said Goodbye." ooooohhhh, I'm so excited! I hope it hurries up and gets here already! *jumping up and down*

Sorry about the length, but I haven't been on in so long that so much has happened! I'll try to do better next time. I don't blame you if you gave up half way through and said "forget this!" But if you are one of the "few and the proud" that made it alive to the end of this post, I take my imaginary hat off to you and congratulate you on your fine achievement. Have an imaginary gold star and a pat on the back. :-D

Stephanie

p.s. Katherine and Emily: "Destroy, Destroy, Destroooooooooy it! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!" ;) (inside joke)

School's Almost Out!

Hooray! it's finals week here at Hill College. ok, it is for me anyways. because i'm a music major, we start Monday while everyone else starts Thursday and goes til next week. we finish Friday. yipee! after that, i only have a history test on Tuesday. mwahahahahaha. i have to admit, this semester went by really fast. probably due to all of the breaks we have during spring semester. nevertheless, i am glad the semester's nearly overwith. i'm definitely looking forward to a well-deserved break.......and most of all, CAMP!!!!! mwahahahaha! only a few weeks to go...i'm soooo excited! :D can't wait to see ya, Katherine!

soooo.... the recital was today. and actually, it went very well. much better than last Tuesday when I played for the Cleburne Community Chorus. I played "Rondo" by Alberto Ginastera, which is slightly strange....ok, it's really weird. it's 2oth century music, what do you expect? lol but i actually really like playing it, and i was really comfortable with the song, so i wasn't really nervous either, which helps. it was one of those moments that almost seems like a dream. i just walked across the stage, sat down, played, bowed, and walked back off. but i didn't mess up, and only a couple times did my hands start shaking, but when they did i jus thought, "Oh, no you don't!!" and forced them to keep playing and refused my nerves to get the best of me. it was great. of course it also helped that there were like maybe 15 people in the room at most...lol. ;) not alot of people show up for the recital, since it's in the middle of the week, in the morning. i didn't mind though. everyone else did very good. of course one of my faves was the very last one. Robert and Anelda sang "The Point of No Return" from Phantom of the Opera. *sigh* i even sang along (quietly). :D

anyways, i got to go eat then i have some studying to do. TTFN, ta ta for now!!

long time no see!

well, it's been awhile since i've written....haven't had much going on lately. just school, school, oh yeah! ...and more school. lol ;) i got my music lit test back...i actually did better than i thought i would! you see, i sorta lost my notebook with ALL of my notes in it....not good. so i thought if i read the chapters in the book on Classical and Romantic periods that i'd be good. that was dumb. of course, he had questions like: name 10 artists from the Romantic period and stuff like that. i was like, uh......what? lol but (thanks to extra credit) i made out with a B. don't ask me how. i don't question my good grades.....lol jk

anyways, yay! a new Enya contest has started again! hopefully it won't be DUMB like the last one, where i had it all figured out then couldn't get the VERY LAST password. sheesh. this time, the winners receive autographed copies of her brand new single: It's in the Rain. yipee! this is especially nice, since i don't believe America is getting this single. >:( so hopefully i'll win.....*sarcastic laugh* right......

choir concert's only a week away (and two days). it should be pretty cool...except i have to play the STUPID (i stress--stupid!) piano part for "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring." i love the song, even the stupid piano part, but i just CAN'T seem to get it no matter how much i pratice, which is weird, cuz it's not really THAT hard. i think it's because she makes me play like really fast, and i panic because i'm like, "oh, no! where do my fingers go?!" lol but HOPEFULLY i'll do ok....

next payment for camp this sunday!!! yipee! i'm so excited about it, as you well know, Katherine....lol.

well, on a slightly sadder note....my grandfather died today of cancer. i was very saddened, because i loved him very much (even if we didn't neccessarily agree theologically). *sigh* i'll miss him a lot.

well, time for supper, so i'll leave ya now. namarie,

A Day at Hill College

sooooo......alot happened today.
first of all, Mr. Lowe didn't show up to class this morning, and we found out that it was because his daughter is having a baby! yay! he's a grandfather again...hehe. apparently, his wife called him last night after the basket ball game, and told him that she was going to get their daughter, because her water broke i believe. so this morning she still hadn't gone into labor, but i'm sure she has by now....:)
secondly, the music majors decided to spend our afternoon having a water balloon fight at the park. it was a BLAST!!!! they had been making the balloons since like 8 that morning. i know we had over 1,000 at least! and for 5-6 minutes of fun....lol. of course, because i hadn't gotten as wet as everyone else, Jolenna had to point it out. then she and keeley held me down while the guys poured a HUGE trash can full of freezing cold water on me.....it was fun t hough. even if it was cold. lol luckily i brought a towel with me.
it's been really nice this week....unusually warm. i heard that we're at record highs. so, it was so beautiful today that i took my homework outside and listened to music. it was great.

we got our pictures back today for the board that the music people make. mine turned out ok....i wish i had remembered to bring my violin for my personality pose. but there's always next year.
well, guess i'll go for now. ttfn, ta ta for now! :D

Here I Go!!! ;)

ok, this is my first real post, so here goes!

well, nothing really exciting happening.....just school, school, and more school! lol
i'm still mad about the Enya contest....after all my hard work, and i couldn't get the password for the LAST line to the riddle! grrrrrrrrrr *takes deep breath* i fell better now. anyways, oh and today i was on the Enya forum (duh), and i met this girl who's SN was "Christine Daae." i was like AWESOME! so i PM'd her to tell her that i loved her SN and i'm a huge Phantom fan too. ;) it was funny. and then, they have like a country of the week and a region of the week, and the region of the week is the "Rock Mountain region." naturally, having lived in the Rocky Mountains, i had a lot to say about it (especially the stupid elk). it was great. *sigh* well, i wrote 1 report today....9 more to go. plus one research paper. that sucks. oh well i'll live.
oh, and this lady has asked Ms. Erickson if i could accompany one of her students in May (she'll pay me). i was like, hmmmmmm....it's worth a try! :D hey, it's money! when you don't have a job, money is real nice once in a while. hopefully i'll be able to work during the summer for Ms. Diana again at TCC (that's Technical Chemical Company....not the college. lol) that's a lot of fun. well, i'm getting tired, so i'm gonna go back to my room and probably work on the puzzle that Meghan bought. i'm hooked. i love puzzles, so when she bought it, i've been like doing a little each day. i HAVE to! lol i've done like probably 80% of the puzzle myself....lol. but anyways, i'll go for now.
Stephanie (Riel)

p.s~did you know......that the starbucks picture is of a mermaid? i never knew that!! i always wondered what the pic of the lady was supposed to mean. but she's a mermaid! they used to use a pic of her whole body or whateva, but changed it. i thought that was cool. you can learn all sorts of interesting things from Meghan. ;)
