Celtic Woman

ok, i've kinda busy, and i've been meaning to post for the last couple weeks about my celtic woman concert. sorry for the wait:

first, if you don't know who Celtic Woman is: it is a group of 5 Irish women who sing/play celtic music. they each had their own solo works already, and came together to form "Celtic Woman". There's: Lisa Kelley (who's about the only one with a "normal" name in American standards...lol). then there's Chloe Agnew, who started w/ this group at age 15. very pretty voice. her father, David Agnew, is also a well-known oboist. Probably my two favorites though are Meav ni Mhaolchatha who has a beautiful soprano voice. she can hit the high notes with such clarity, and seemingly no effort; and Orla Fallon, who has what i would call a "haunting" voice. i absolutely love all of her songs. Now my absolute favorite (for obvious reasons) is Mairead Nesbitt, the fiddlist. she is REALLY really good. i wish i could play Irish fiddle like that. maybe one day....lol. she's really very talented; she can dance all around the stage while playing at the same time. my violin teacher describes her in his Romanian accent as: "That blonde woman who swishes her hair all over the place..." lol

sooooo, July 25 was the the Celtic Woman concert at Nokia Theater, and it was AWESOME!!!!!! to put it simply. :-P i just loooooooved it! they played all the songs i hoped they would (mostly Siuil a Ruin [Orla], Si do Mhaimeo i [Meav], and the Butterfly [Mairead]) plus plenty of new ones i had never heard before. Their dresses were soooooooooooo pretty. My favorites were Lisa's (blue with a gold strip on the top and bottom) and Orla's (a really pretty green). I also really liked Meav's purply one too, though. Mairead was soooo cool! even more energetic than on the pbs show. really all of them were, actually. she had like her own dance routine for every song she played, and she would jump off this platform thing to the other part of the stage while playing, and she danced all over the stage. it was so much fun. you could tell she was really enjoying it too. for souvenirs i got their "souvenir programme" which talks about each of the performers and has a list of the songs they sang/played that night. i also bought a cool t-shirt (it's black and has their logo on it). i didn't buy any of their solo cd's cuz they're cheaper at wal-mart. yes, i know i'm cheap. so sue me! O:-) anyways, i didn't get home til nearly 1 am, and had to get up at 6:30 that morning for class, but it was DEFINITELY worth it. i am sooooo glad i got to go. thanks Uncle Ronnie for the tickets! :D
